Commissioning a Mosaic

Mosaics by their very nature are exquisite looking and hardwearing pieces of art, that can be fully integrated into your living environment, both internally and externally. Investing in one of my mosaics means investing in a piece of unique art that will stand the test of time and will give your space a ‘wow’ factor.

If you are keen for me to create a mosaic for you, and already know what you want, then please get in touch. I have also provided a step-by-step guide to the commissioning process to let you know the process.

If, however, you want to have a mosaic made for you but are unsure about the theme and design, then feel free to contact me to find out what’s possible. To check out the quality of my work and to possibly gain some inspiration, why not check out the galleries on this site.

Process for Commissioning a Mosaic

So how do you go about commissioning a mosaic?

Firstly I need to know how big it is and where you want it to be situated. This might mean a site visit, if the space you want the mosaic to go in is an odd shape and you want it made to measure.

You’ll also want to have a theme to suit your home, grounds or premises. If you’ve already got your design in mind, then that’s great, but if you want me to create a design for you, then I can do that for you.

We will need to discuss materials and the level of detail in the mosaic so that I can provide you with a cost. Once the budget is agreed, I can start work on the final design and get building.

Note: I take a 50% payment upfront, with the balance payable upon completion.

Previous Commissions

Over the years I’ve had lots of clients. Here is a selection of bespoke mosaics that I’ve made.

Disney Mosaics in Rome

Sometimes I get surprising and exciting commissions come in. One such commission was for Disney, who needed some panels created very quickly and then shipped over to Rome. I was then to fly out and install them. The trouble was we already had a family holiday in Ireland booked, so to get the project finished in time, I took all the materials with me, and made them at our holiday home on the Emerald Isle.

Hinkler Place Development

Hinkler Place is a housing development on the east side of Southampton. I was approached by Barratt Homes and asked to design a series of mosaics that would adorn a retaining wall that ran along the edge of their new development.

Townhill Green Development

As part of Southampton City Council’s regeneration programme, a public green space was created for residents to enjoy. The vision for this area included mosaic covered ‘feature seating’.

Mayflower Mosaic

This mosaic, is one of my favourites and was commissioned by the Office of the Mayor of Southampton. The mosaic has been installed in Bitterne Library.

This gallery shows the complexity of the construction as well as the finished piece. Prints of this mosaic are available in my gift shop.
